BCM Statement on Attacks

BIRMINGHAM COUNCIL OF MOSQUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Asalamu alaykum..
We have been informed by Ian Green ( Superintendent of West Mids Police)
The male who committed the criminal acts against a number of Mosques on 21st March this year.
The male responsible will be charged on 20th August 2019 with;
5 x counts – Religiously aggravated criminal damage. Contrary to Section 30 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
The Mosques affected are ;
Witton Islamic Centre – Witton Rd, Aston, Birmingham B6 6NSMasjid Madrassa Faizaul Islam Centre – The Broadway, Aston, Birmingham B6 6PDAl Habib Trust – Birchfield Rd, Birmingham B19 1LHJamia Mosque Ghausia  – 237 Albert Rd, Aston B6 5NAJam E Masjid Masjid Qiblah Hadhrat Sahib Gulhar Shareef Mosque – Slade Rd, Erdington B23 7RH
I wanted you to hear from us before the media story breaks as I am aware from the meetings we attended at the time that this incident sent ripples through a number of communities and was condemned by all.
The reason for the delay relates to the suspect being deemed mentally unfit which has now been resolved following treatment and he is fit to be charged and stand trial.
From the point of charge there will be a court hearing…
